Intelligent Seating

One of our latest retractable seating installations at Goldsmiths University features integrated USB & Power charging points.  The increasing demand from customers has led us source a compact, high quality power unit which has been adapted for use with our retractable seating systems. This addition to our product range combined with scribe writing tablets provides the total solution for teaching spaces whilst also providing the flexibility of regaining the floor space when the system is retracted.

The PixelTuf sockets support intelligent technology that allows them recognise the attached device and automatically deliver the correct amount of power. The sockets sit virtually flush with the treads of the seating unit therefore providing a robust solution and allowing the chairs to easily fold down on top. All units are CE compliant and meet the relevant British Standards.

The sockets can be provided onto any new retractable unit and also an upgrade for existing installations.

BIM SEATING

We are excited to announce that 3 of our front line retractable seating products are now live on the NBS National BIM Library. Making them available on the innovative site helps us to deliver service and support to our customers, so they can complete their projects successfully.

The three dimensional objects are visually and dimensionally accurate closely depicting the finished product whilst also incorporating a number modifiable parameters to enable the specifier to configure the seating blocks to aid the definition of their projects.

Our content is free to download and CoBie compliant, please click here if you would like to download a BIM object. Where software other than Revit is used we can create IFC files upon customer request.

SOSU C

telescopic seating

Hussey Seatway are pleased to announce the successful completion of their latest international project at SOSU C in Copenhagen. SOSU C welcomes a total of 5000 students a year and is one of the largest Health Care Colleges in Denmark offering vocational education and training.

Working closely with our Danish partner Houmoller Contracts Aps and BBP Architects we were awarded the contract to supply a high specification Telescopic seating system for one of the Colleges new lecture halls. To keep In touch with contemporary appearance of the venue we supplied our Decra chair with solid Oak show panels, the chair fold down mechanisms were fitted with concealed dual action gas struts to aid the lowering / raising of the chair banks which significantly reduces the set up time for the end user.

Oneof the architects key objectives was for the seating to ‘disappear’ when retracted. The telescopic system was designed and manufactured to precision to fit within the alcove at the back of the hall with minimal clearances. At the front of each row we installed Oak fascia boards that directly match the appearance of the surrounding wall panels to ensure a clean and consistent finish.

As you will see from the photos the results are spectacular, looking forward to our next project in Denmark which has already been confirmed for Spring 2017.

Introducing Centura

centura

We are excited to announce the addition of the Centura chair to our product range, developed by our seating partners Bluecube the chair features a durable and ergonomic design at an affordable price.

Like its sister chair Integra, Centura is rail mounted for maximum flexibility and can be upgraded with upholstered pads to improve comfort. The chair is certified to highest test strength level (level 4) therefore providing customers with the confidence that it will perform in the most demanding of environments.

Centura is perfect for sports and education projects where the budget is tight but quality will not be compromised. Two schools have already selected Centura for their projects and we look forward to working with many more potential customers.

Award Winning Seating

retractable seating yarm school

Hussey Seatwaty are proud to be part of the recent Yarm Music School project that has been named as regional winners in the Local Authority Building Control Awards in the category of Best Educational Project.

Yarm school is well established as one of the leading independent schools in the country and strives to offer their students the best possible facilities. Working closely with Associated Architects and Wharton Construction we developed a bespoke double row depth retracting seating system with a separate retractable staircase for the state of the art music school.

The lecture theatre can seat an audience of up to 120 with the retractable unit featuring a clever partial opening feature that allows capacity to be reduced / performance space increased depending on the requirement of the school. The rear row of the retractable unit can be truncated and therefore acts as a walkway when the lower rows of seating are closed.  Additional architectural features include oak veneered side panels and custom rails with solid wood spindles.

This is our second installation of retractable seating at the school and adds to our ever expanding list of customers from the independent education sector.

BIM arrives at Hussey Seatway

BIM retractable seating

We are delighted to announce the launch of BIM models for our retractable seating systems. Our in house designers have successfully created detailed models for our frontline seating products, both our Integra Chair and Club Bench on TP retractable platforms are available for download via the FASTRACK CAD link on our website, alternatively click here to access directly.

The idea behind BIM modelling is to aid collaborative working and to allow all designers/architects to work using a shared model , we have made our Revit files simple to navigate and easy to configure to meet the exact requirements of the project. The models not only act as a powerful design tool but also enable the end user to visualise the retractable seating in the space, we are excited to undertake new projects using this cutting edge technology.

We are continuing to develop BIM models for our remaining seating products so watch this space…

Instant success for Gallery 3 Chair

The recent introduction of our Gallery 3 chair is proving to be an instant success within the market place. Like its predecessor Gallery 2, the chair has been designed specifically for use with our theatre quality retractable platform systems. The new model features thicker, ergonomic foam on both the seat pan and backrest whilst still maintains its slim, elegant closed profile. The seat supports are now constructed from cast aluminium stanchions, improving both the aesthetics and structural strength of the chair. We have upgraded the gas strut mechanism which is now concealed within the housing of the fold down mechanism, making them less likely to sustain accidental damage. The chair has undergone rigorous safety testing and conforms to both UK and USA standard, Gallery 3 is also available for fixed and flat floor applications.

Recent projects secured with chair include a 300 seat performing arts centre for Holme Grange School, a 290 seat retractable system for the new Metropolitan Police training centre and a 320 seat theatre fit out for Twickenham community centre.

Seating renovation project off to a great start!

Our extensive seating renovation project at Odyssey Arena is off to a great start! The existing retractable structures and recessed units are being brought up to current safety standards and extensively reconditioned. The old seating will be replaced with Bluecube’s Integra chair - a highly versatile, modern chair offering unrivalled comfort and superior specifications. We are delighted to add this project to our already impressive portfolio of work in the leisure and sports market.

Expanding our 3D modelling capabilities

Our engineering team have been furthering their Autodesk 3D modelling capabilities and are working on the development of an automated engineering system.

Once fully-functional, the automated system will not only offer efficiencies but enhanced capabilities, such as: in-depth diagnostics to resolve conflicts before construction, FEA (finite element analysis) allowing stress calculations to be reviewed, fully rendered design solutions and dynamic simulations showing operation. R&D will be enhanced through the ability to fully evaluate designs before they are built.

The system will also be able to generate all project documentation - manufacturing fabrication drawings, bill of materials, full outputs, parts list, sales drawings, floor loading diagrams etc. Up to 95% of our processes will be able to be automated.

As we continue to move forward with 3D modelling, BIM will also become an integrated part of the design process offering the ability to communicate ideas with integrated visualization tools.

We are excited to be further developing our design aptitude and expertise.
