Award Winning Seating

Hussey Seatway were proud to be part of the recent Yarm Music School project that has been named as regional winners in the Local Authority Building Control Awards in the category of Best Educational Project.

Yarm school is well established as one of the leading independent schools in the country and strives to offer their students the best possible facilities. Working closely with Associated Architects and Wharton Construction we developed a bespoke double row depth retracting seating system with a separate retractable staircase for the state of the art music school.  

The lecture theatre can seat an audience of up to 120 with the retractable unit featuring a clever partial opening feature that allows capacity to be reduced / performance space increased depending on the requirement of the school. The rear row of the retractable unit can be truncated and therefore acts as a walkway when the lower rows of seating are closed.  Additional architectural features include oak veneered side panels and custom rails with solid wood spindles.

This is our second installation of retractable seating at the school and adds to our ever-expanding list of customers from the independent education sector.
