Durham University

Project Overview

We provided stunning seating for the Assembly Rooms Theatre at Durham University. Originally constructed in the late 1700’s it was converted into a theatre in 1891.    The Assembly Rooms Theatre is a historic theatre located in the centre of Durham. During term time, it primarily hosts the work of Durham Student Theatre’s 27 resident companies, and also presents the work of external and touring companies at other points in the year.  This is the third project which we have worked on at Durham University with PH Partnerships.

Solution

We provided them with 147 fixed Arts chairs to sit on their raked floor, with brass seat numbers, which tied into the heritage of the building.  We also offered removable chairs to allow for changes in lighting set up and disabled access.
